Dry Needling North Lakes
Dry Needling North Lakes
Dry needling from our physiotherapists, used alongside exercise and hands-on treatment as part of a complete plan for muscle pain and tension.
A hands-on tool
Dry needling uses very fine, single-use sterile needles placed into tight or sensitive areas of muscle. At Click it could be one part of your treatment, combined with exercise, education and other hands-on techniques. Dry needling is not mandatory and will be a discussion with your physiotherapist if they decide this option might be beneficial.
Fine, single-use needles
Each needle is sterile, single-use and much thinner than a needle used for injections.
Part of your physio session
Your physio decides with you whether dry needling suits your problem, and uses it within your appointment.
Paired with exercise
We combine needling with a rehab program so you are building strength and capacity, not just easing symptoms.
Consent first
We explain what is involved, check your medical history and only go ahead with your consent.

What our patients say
Dry needling questions
Who performs dry needling at Click Physiotherapy?
All of our physiotherapists are trained in dry needling. It is not performed by our Exercise Physiologists.
Is dry needling the same as acupuncture?
No. Both use fine needles, but acupuncture is based on traditional Chinese medicine principles, while dry needling is used by physiotherapists to target tight or sensitive areas of muscle based on a physical assessment.
Does dry needling hurt?
Most people feel a small prick as the needle goes in, and sometimes a brief twitch or ache in the muscle. Some people feel mild soreness for a day or so afterwards.
Is dry needling safe?
We use single-use sterile needles and follow strict hygiene and safety guidelines. Your physio checks your medical history first, and dry needling is only used with your consent.
Do I have to have dry needling?
No. It is always optional. If you would prefer not to have it, your physio will use other treatment options.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed to see a physiotherapist. You can book online or call 1300 204 779.
